On the alert for insurance fraud
About 100 people packed an American Legion hall recently in tiny Hayfield in southeastern Minnesota. Many were victims who collectively lost about $3 million to a man posing as a licensed insurance agent. The big question at the May 31 meeting: How could they have known that longtime area businessman Dale Schlichting, of Austin, was allegedly bilking them? His license to sell insurance products
